Task 1
Draw a mind map
Look at the illustration above. You see the word "violence" in the center.
- What do you think? What comes to mind?
- Sort your thoughts into a mind map as above. Include photos, drawings or other important items of your choice.
- Use one of the free mind map apps from the app store or write on a sheet of paper.
- Take a photo of your finished mind map or export it from your app.
Task 2
The difference between aggression and violence
- Do you know the difference between “violence” and “aggression”? Take some time to think about it.
- If you are not sure, read about it below.
- Draw two columns on a piece of paper or use the two text boxes for your examples about violence and aggression.
- You can also work with a colleague or as a team.

Task 3
Case: The Demonstration
During a demonstration by an ethnic minority within a country, a small group of individuals begins to throw stones at a government building. The police force responds and tries to arrest the people involved. During this intervention, a policeman is captured and seriously beaten by the demonstrators.
- Try to answer the questions: What is violence? What is aggression in this example? Write down your thoughts in the text box below.
- Discuss the case with one or more colleagues. Present your answers. Do you all agree?

What are violence and aggression?
- You may share your answers from «Task 3» in the discussion group below.
- Read through some answers shared by your colleagues to gain their perspective. Feel free tell them whether you agree with their explanation of violence and aggression and explain your perspecitve.
