CORE Strenghten Your Life Skills: For Teenagers and Young Adults – English
Unit 2 – How I can solve conflicts: Step 1

Task 1
Think of conflicts
Think of the conflicts that occur with friends, siblings or in your class.
- What kinds of problems can trigger a conflict? For example: when working together with other students, between boys and girls, when sharing things, in friendships, with the teacher etc.
- Write all the problems you can think on a piece of paper.
For example: «When two people want to use the same thing at the same time.»
Task 2
Decide!
- There are two different forms of problems: individual and common problems. For example:
- Having a quarrel with one of your best friends = individual problem
- It's too loud because multiple people talk at the same time = common problem
- Go back to the problems you noted in «Task 1» above. Decide which are common and which are individual problems.
- Place the individual problems into the first box and the common problems into the second text box.
- You can decide and work in a group together.
Task 3
Share your thoughts
Which problems can be solved easily and how could this be done?
- Share some of the problems you noted in «Task 1» and copy them in a post in the discussion group below.
- Look at the problems posted by others in the discussion group. Do you know how to easily solve one of the problems? Answer by posting your suggested solution.
