Unit 3 – What do I know about a country?: Step 1

Task 1

Finding the languages spoken in the world

  • When you are finished, click on «Retry» to start over. How fast can you solve the puzzle?

Task 2

Creating a presentation

Choose a topic for a country (for example the country in which you currently reside) you want to know more about and collect some information.

  • Here are some suggestions:
    • Capital and large cities
    • Rivers and lakes, nature
    • Political situation
    • Employment rates
    • Average income
    • Leaders and politicians
    • Culture
    • Famous artists
    • A special region
    • Or choose your own topic...

The internet offers you almost unlimited information. The difficulty is to find and filter out the relevant information. Also, if you are not fluent in English, you may find it hard to find quality information in your native language.

The website of The World Bank is available in many languages. The encyclopedia of Wikipedia is available in even more languages. We have collected some links in various languages.

  • Use these resources or any other you can find on the web to collect information about your selected topic.
  • Present your findings on a poster or save it by using the text box below.

    • If you have the possibility, create a visual aid like a poster to help you present your topic.
    • Practice your presentation until you feel comfortable enough to present your topic in front of an audience.
  • Present your poster. Ask a colleague to film your presentation with your mobile phone.
    • Analyze the video of your presentation with a colleague. What worked well? Where can you improve?
