Gamification

from DallE: a cute cat playing an English game with a mouse in school surreal
Gamified instruction is much more than playing games in your lessons! Of course Kahoot, Blooket and basic classroom games should be used at every level, but gamifying your classroom entails much more. The Octalysis Framework is one such model which introduces the components of gamification and can liven up your instruction.
You might think about the following questions:
- Gamification is not just playing games - what is it? What are the principles of it?
- How can gamification be used without all too much of the wrong types of competition?
- How can you apply general principles of "gamifying your classroom" onto your English language classroom?
- What games are kids playing in their free time that you could somehow incorporate in your classroom?
- If you gamify your classroom, are you sending the wrong message to your learners about learning?
